    Repair and restoration of crane boom functionality.


    The repair of jib cranes is often associated with the restoration of the functionality of their main mechanism - arrows. Timely maintenance and ongoing maintenance operations help to eliminate the need for major repairs. The boom of the crane takes a heavy load. To prevent abnormal situations, it is necessary to inspect and repair the crane in a timely manner. Additional inspection and subsequent repair of the jib crane is necessary when:

    • There are defects in the mechanism associated with the general or local deflection, curvature of individual sections;
      There is an increased wear of the axes of the base;
    • There are discontinuities of welded joints between boom sections.

    The repair of the arrows of the boom of the jib crane is especially important. This defect is most dangerous. Repair operations involve replacing the deformed section of the boom. If such manipulation is impossible, it is necessary to replace the entire arrow with a new one.

    Methods of repairing the boom of a crane
    Replacement of the section gives greater strength to the whole structure. The new part is free of any defects and microcracks. When replacing the section, only the external weld seams are made, it is not possible to make internal welds. This does not give an absolute guarantee of the efficiency of repairing the boom of the crane. The carrying capacity is reduced by about 30%, however this compensates for the decrease in the outreach.
     
    Removing the section while repairing the boom of the crane allows you to shorten the shoulder and increase strength. Shortening the boom can help reduce the working area, violating the kinematics of the entire installation. In order for the shortening to be correct, it must be accompanied by a change in the functioning of the hydraulic cylinders. It is worth remembering that the hydraulic drive and the mechanical part of the structure are tightly connected.
